Introduction
In response to various problems with the structure of conventional lightning arresters on the market, Wishpower independently developed a pathless mesh automatic winding process for core molding (mainly for 3kV-36kV lightning arresters) and adopted an integral injection-molded silicone rubber shed sheath. This innovation has greatly improved the performance and reliability of the lightning arrester.

 

Problem description
Conventional lightning arresters have some common structural problems, such as insufficient pressure release capacity, insufficient mechanical strength, poor sealing performance, large partial discharge, etc., which affect the application effect of lightning arresters in various power systems.

 

Solutions
1. Safe and reliable pressure release capability
Wishpower’s lightning arrester has a unique pressure release structure, and the pathless belt is wound closely to the side of the resistor through a special winding process. On the one hand, the air gap between the resistor and the pathless belt is eliminated, and on the other hand, multiple diamond-shaped explosion-proof grooves (pressure release points) are formed on the side of the resistor, so that the lightning arrester has a safe and reliable pressure release capability. In any accident and failure situation, the lightning arrester can safely release the internal pressure to prevent the accident from expanding.
2. High mechanical strength
The latitude-free tape is a semi-dry prepreg tape made of treated alkali-free glass fiber impregnated with a thermosetting resin. The winding parameters are customized in combination with the layer design theory. The latitude-free tape is wound on the surface of the resistor at a certain angle and speed and is in close contact with the resistor, ensuring that the wound core has high mechanical strength.
3. Reliable sealing performance
The latitude-free tape is wound on the surface of the resistor and the unique sealing design structure of the end hardware is adopted to ensure that the arrester has reliable sealing performance during normal life.
4. Small partial discharge
The latitude-free tape automatic winding process is adopted to avoid the generation of air gaps between latitude-free tape layers caused by human operation, and the latitude-free tape is closely attached to the surface of the resistor. After the winding is completed, the core is placed in an automated controlled oven for secondary drying and curing. In the constant hot air flow cycle, the fine air between the fiber gaps is released, thereby reducing the partial discharge of the product.
5. High cost performance
Compared with other materials (such as glass fiber winding tubes, Dureton, etc.), the latitude-free tape used in the arrester of this structure has higher performance, lower price, and does not require secondary processing. The use of an automatic winding process not only improves the stability of product performance but also improves production efficiency. Therefore, this type of structural arrester has a higher cost-effectiveness and is suitable for products of 110kV and below.
6. External insulation silicone rubber (self-developed formula)
Our company has done a lot of optimization and improvement work on the external insulation shed sheath of the arrester and used it for production. The optimized and improved silicone rubber formula makes its performance more excellent and has passed the 1000-hour aging test report of relevant requirements such as standards IEC 60099-4:2014 and GB/T 11032-2020.

 

 

Verification solutions
Wishpower has successively carried out multi-functional impulse current generator (2ms square wave, 8/20μs lightning, 4/10μs high current, and 30/60us operation), resistor accelerated aging tester, DC reference voltage test, sealing test, double-station arrester digital test system and other professional equipment and instruments for testing and inspection.
